Being a donor designated fund means that the donations made to this fund must be used specifically as designated by the donors . . . and in this specific instance the donor designation is to provide financial, quality of life, assistance to children, and families of children, in treatment at the Dell Children’s Medical Center Children’s Blood and Cancer Center. The funds in the Superhero Kids Fund can be used for no other purposes and the funds can not be spent on administrative or other expenses.

Superhero Kids Endowment

In 2011, Superhero Kids was fortunate enough to be recognized by the Children’s Medical Foundation of Central Texas as the recipient of the net proceeds from the Austin Art Cow Auction, hosted by Jay Leno and sponsored by US Money Reserve and others. The net proceeds of the Austin Art Cow Auction, $1,100,000 was placed in a Donor Directed Endowment. This meant that the net proceeds would be invested by the Children’s Medical Foundation of Central Texas and the income from those investments would be used to provide financial, quality of life assistance to children, and families of children, in treatment at the Dell Children’s Medical Center Children’s Blood and Cancer Center.

In addition, the Donor Designation also provided that in the event the income from the endowment was insufficient to meet the immediate needs for financial, quality of life, assistance to children, and families of children, in treatment at the Dell Children’s Medical Center Children’s Blood and Cancer Center, a portion of the original endowment could be used to meet those immediate unfunded needs. In this manner, the Superhero Kids Fund Endowment was designed to provide a long term financial solution to funding financial, quality of life, assistance to children, and families of children, in treatment at Dell Children’s Blood and Cancer Center.
