Superhero Kids - Supporting the Children's Blood and Cancer at Dell Children's Medical Center
Who We Are
Our Mission
Supporting children and families battling cancer and blood disorders.
Superhero Kids provides funding for the Children’s Blood and Cancer Center (CBCC) at Dell Children’s Medical Center to enhance the quality of life for patients and their families during treatment. We are committed to raising awareness of the special needs of children fighting pediatric cancers and blood disorders, through our fundraising efforts, community partnerships, and the spirit of volunteerism.
About Us
Founded in December 2009, Superhero Kids supports children and families facing pediatric cancer and blood disorders at the Children’s Blood and Cancer Center (CBCC) of Central Texas.
When a child begins treatment, families often face overwhelming emotional and financial challenges that extend far beyond medical care. Superhero Kids helps ease this burden by providing funding for non-medical expenses and supportive programs that improve quality of life during treatment.
About the CBCC
The Children’s Blood and Cancer Center (CBCC) at Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, Texas serves as a “home away from home” during the course of treatment for patients, siblings, and family members.
Every effort is made to make the children feel comfortable in their new environment, and great care is taken to help the children learn how to manage their pain, anxiety and fears. Specialists work with the children and families on all aspects of life and help them to cope with unfamiliar aspects of cancer treatment.
The CBCC currently treats approximately 400 patients per year. 70-85 children in the Austin area are diagnosed with some type of cancer or blood disorder each year.
