About Superhero Kids

Founded in December 2009, Superhero Kids began with a simple but powerful belief: no family should have to face the challenges of pediatric cancer or blood disorders alone.

Our founders were volunteers at the Children’s Blood and Cancer Center (CBCC) of Central Texas, where they witnessed firsthand the emotional and financial strain families experience during treatment. Inspired by the resilience of these children and the needs of their families, Superhero Kids was created to help bridge the gaps in support.

When a child is diagnosed and begins treatment, life changes immediately. Many families find themselves navigating lengthy hospital stays, complex treatment schedules, and difficult decisions—all while trying to maintain a sense of normalcy at home. Often, one parent must step away from work to manage care, education, and daily needs, while supporting siblings and keeping the household running. With treatment lasting one to three years or longer, the financial and emotional burden can quickly become overwhelming.

That’s where we step in. Superhero Kids provides critical financial support to the CBCC to ease these burdens and enhance quality of life during treatment. Our funding helps cover non-medical expenses not reimbursed by insurance, including transportation, basic living costs, and special educational needs. We also support enrichment and connection through events/ programs like our Annual CBCC Holiday Party and the Nourishing Caregiver Support Group Program, ensuring children and families experience care, community, and stability during an incredibly challenging time.

Our Vision

A future where no family faces pediatric illness alone.

We envision a world where children receiving cancer and blood disorder treatment are supported beyond medical care, and families have the resources, stability, and community they need to navigate every step of the journey.
