Meet Our Superhero Kids
Behind every diagnosis is a child whose story deserves to be heard. Extraordinary strength, courage, and hope lives in the stories of our Superhero Kids.
Our Superhero Kids are babies, students, athletes, artists, dancers, and dreamers — kids who look just like the ones next door. They range from newborns to young adults, each with their own passions, personalities, and plans for the future.
A diagnosis of cancer or a blood disorder can suddenly turn their world upside down. Treatment often brings long hospital stays, disrupted schooling, and isolation due to weakened immune systems. Yet even in the hardest moments, these kids show extraordinary courage, resilience, and strength.
The stories shared here honor just a few of the many Superhero Kids and families we support — reminding us that behind every diagnosis is a child with a powerful story worth telling.
Meet Parker
"Kicked Cancer Out of the Door!"
At just four feet tall and 54 pounds, Parker faced a diagnosis no family is ever prepared for: a malignant brain tumor. What followed was more than a year of surgeries, radiation, chemotherapy, and countless hospital visits at Dell Children’s Medical Center. He endured five surgeries, dozens of treatments, and unimaginable challenges — and came out the other side stronger. In 2010, Parker proudly declared that he had “kicked cancer out the door,” a victory made possible by courage, community, and compassionate care.
Meet Cami
“Most people might think I wish I never had this disease, but it has given me so many opportunities.”
Cami was a bright, joyful teenager whose smile hid a lifelong battle with a rare blood disorder. When her illness forced her to step away from dance — a passion she loved deeply — she found healing in an unexpected place: Camp Rocky Ridge, a Superhero Kids–sponsored retreat for teens with cancer and blood disorders. The experience reminded her that she was not alone — and that even in illness, connection and joy are possible.
Meet Dylan
“I wouldn’t change a thing because of the knowledge and experience I gained—and most of all, the amazing people I met along the way.”
Diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia as a child, Dylan endured years of intensive treatment, complications, and multiple cord blood transplants. Today, Dylan gives back as a Superhero Kid, competing in the Livestrong Marathon and advocating for others facing childhood illness. His heartfelt letter to Jay Leno reflects the profound impact that compassion, connection, and the Superhero Kids Fund have had on his life — and on so many others.
